Job Description:


  • Developing fire prevention techniques such as overhauling building codes or developing fire safety regulations
  • Reviewing plans to determine feasibility of fire protection systems, including sprinkler systems and alarms
  • Inspecting facilities to determine fire hazards and recommending solutions to eliminate hazards
  • Reviewing building plans to ensure compliance with fire safety codes
  • Recommending updates to current fire protection systems as needed, such as additional smoke detectors
  • Performing investigations after fires to determine their cause and origin
  • Working with insurance companies to investigate claims and settle disputes regarding fire damage claims
  • Conducting research on fire protection methods, materials, and technologies
  • Creating fire safety plans for facilities such as schools and nursing homes
Job Specification:

•            Design fire protection systems for new and existing buildings, in compliance with local fire codes and regulations

•            Perform site visits to assess the need for fire protection system upgrades or modifications

•            Prepare cost estimates for proposed fire protection system designs

•            Develop fire safety plans and evacuation procedures

•            Conduct fire drills to ensure that all occupants are familiar with evacuationprocedures

•            Investigate the cause of fires and recommend measures to prevent future fires

•            Keep abreast of new developments in fire protection technology and methods

•            Prepare reports detailing the findings of fire investigations

•            Assist in the development of building code requirements related to fireprotection

•            Serve as an expert witness in legal proceedings related to fires

•            Provide training to building owners, managers, and occupants on fire safety

•            Maintain records of fire protection system inspections and tests
